No Fear Of God

Scripture

Sin whispers to the wicked, deep within their hearts. They have no fear of God at all.

~Psalm 36:1, NLT

The world is lost in the darkness of sin and will stay that way until they understand the nature of God  and sin.

Any nation or people that loses their respect and fear of God will turn to idols. An idol is a god that is made or created by man. Psalms 135 reads, The idols of the nations are merely things of silver and gold, shaped by human hands. They have mouths but cannot speak, and eyes but cannot see. They have ears but cannot hear, and mouths but cannot breathe. And those who make idols are just like them, as are all who trust in them. We become what we worship. If you worship something that is dead and lifeless like a graven image, you will become dead and lifeless. The world rejects Jesus because He is light. They hate the light because they love darkness {sin}. They do not want to be corrected or convicted; they want to do as they please. They create their own gods in order to make their own rules. It is impossible for a man to create something with superior morals. The gods that men make are not good, holy or righteous: they are as evil as the ones who created them. This is why we have so many religions. Religion is man’s feeble attempt to appease God. Those who reject Yahweh because He is holy, make their own gods who are not holy. It is their attempt to justify their sin while at the same time professing to be good. It’s like these Hollywooder’s donating a million dollars to PETA and calling it righteousness. Who told them that it is righteous to treat human like dogs and dogs like humans? You can’t find such doctrine in the Bible.

David prayed in Psalm 140, Let my enemies be destroyed by the very evil they have planned for me. Lost people don’t understand the nature of God or sin. Sin by its very nature is destructive. David knew that his enemies would be destroyed by the very hate they directed toward him. Paul warned the Jews {who were very religious} in Romans two, “Due to  your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God.” It is like someone gather firewood and piling it around the very stake where they will be burned. They don’t understand: you cannot beat sin. Sin will destroy you! No mere human has ever gotten the best of sin. Sin is a powerful and destructive force and our only hope of defeating it is Jesus. Religion, such as secular humanism, is not the cure for sin; it is fuel on the fire.

When Jesus comes, He will reverse the curse of sin and restore things to their proper order but until then, we live and labor under its curse. Psalms 102 states our present dilemma, The LORD looked down to earth from heaven to hear the groans of the prisoners, to release those condemned to die. We are prisoners to these bodies of sin and we groan to be released. Due to the curse of sin, we are all on death row. When people tell you that they no longer sin; that sin is no longer a problem for them…ask them one question…Do you think you will die like Adam and all his other descendants? Sin is our number one problem and Jesus is the only answer.

June got a good report from her doctor in Nashville and we are thankful. I am concerned about Edith Bennich, she is not doing well at all in my opinion. Of course June reminds me quite often that I am not a doctor and that I should not diagnose. I did visit Terry and Beckys yesterday. Terry was resting peacefully and I am thankful. My old buddy Gregg has made it to the top of my prayer list and this is something that neither he nor I wanted. Gregg is battling bone cancer. It is treatable, PTL. Pray for Gregg, Traci, Sarah and the girls. They are dealing with two cancers. Joe David and I have a pastor friend by the name of Joe Holmes. Joe lost his wife to covid last year and now he has a son, daughter and granddaughter battling cancer. I hate cancer.

I don’t want to say too much but the truth is: we all have problems but if we will look around, we will discover that there is someone {perhaps close} that has greater, far greater problems. This is why ministry has a healing effect on those who get involved: we get focused on helping someone else with their problem and we forget ours.

By the way, our neighbors, the Browns were in a car wreck three weeks ago and they are now in Double Springs in a nursing home doing rehab. They should be back home in about three weeks. There is a ministry need there but I need some young help!
