Setting With Jesus

Scripture

Those who are victorious will sit with Me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat with my Father on his throne.

~Revelation 3:21, NLT

You are in a high place when you are sitting with Jesus.

Paul said in Ephesians 2,  But God is so rich in mercy, and He loved us so muchthat even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when He raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For He raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus.” When we attend formal dinners where seats are pre-assigned, we are always concerned about who they have seated us with. Have you ever thought about sitting with Jesus and not just at a table for dinner but on a throne. If you are like me, you are losing your desire to rule. I have to be honest, I don’t give much thought to ruling but Revelation 3:21 is an incredible verse. To the faithful, Jesus promises an opportunity to sit with Him on His throne. I cannot imagine all that this entails. Isaiah said, Lord, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart’s desire is to glorify your name. Who can God trust to share His throne? Those who’s heart’s desire is to glorify Him.

I have to be honest: when I think of sitting with Jesus, ruling is the last thing on my mind. Being seated with Jesus is not only an honor, it means sweet peace and fellowship. Simply to be in His presence is heaven to me. But there is more: sitting with Him I feel safe. Tim Childers {Mike cousin} led a group of friends on a tour of Greece and they retraced the steps of Paul. When they visited Athens, they notice that the Acropolis is sitting on a hill. This makes sense since the word Acropolis means “high place.” In ancient times, practically all cites had a high place which was fortified. When a city was threatened, the people would go to the high place for protection. Jesus is my high place. I feel safe in the lap and arms of Jesus. Like a weaned child, I am content just to be in his presence. Every day with Jesus is sweeter than the day before.

I moved my computer to the house yesterday so I can blog day or night. June and Holly will be going to Vanderbilt later this morning {7:00 am}. I am glad to report that June had a better day yesterday after suffering through four or five bad ones in a row. I think seeing her doctor will help. I continue to be burdened for my friends who are facing difficulty. Anthony Patterson is a pastor friend who is in HH with severe heart issues. Anthony and I were in Seminary together {New Orleans, 1971}. Pray for Mrs. Edith Bennich also, she is in FOLSOM in Cullman. Keep praying for Sarah, Gregg and Terry.

December is doing what it has done for the past 50 years, it is flying by like a jet. It may be me, but it seems like folks are having a hard time getting into the spirit of Christmas. Tis the season to be jolly but I am not seeing a lot of Fa-la-la-la-la, la-la-la-la. Have you paid attention to the words in verse three….Fast away the old year passes. Hail the new year, lads and lasses; Sing we joyous, all together, heedless of the wind and weather. Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
