Our Enemy

Scripture

Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

~1 Peter 5:8, NASB

Quote

My main ambition in life is to be on the devil’s most wanted list.

~Leonard Ravenhill

We do have an adversary, the devil also known as Satan and Lucifer. The devil in Greek is diabolos and it means accuser, one who is prone to slander, and he is a traducer. A traducer is one who attacks the reputation of another by slander or libel. The devil defames, depreciates, distracts and disparages. His main method of disparaging is to belittle us by questioning our worth and character. The wife of a highly successful minister told me just a few weeks back, “My husband felt like he was a nobody.” She said he told her often, “I am a nobody.” I found it hard to believe at first but then I thought about the tempter’s tactics, and how he loves to belittle our worth and character. I was in a worship service recently and the devil said to me, “You are not saved. You are a hypocrite.” I said to him, “I may be both but right now I am praising Jesus, He is LORD, and I am going to praise Him and there is not a thing you can do about it.” He left me alone. He hates the truth. He hates the word of God and he turns green with envy every time we give honor and praise to Jesus. The word Satan is not a translation, it is the literal Greek word for adversary. He will attack us; it is his nature. He is a liar and a terrorist. He promotes panic, fear, chaos, jealously and hate. He is the god of all hate religions like Islam.

Some folks think the devil is like the despicable  Amalekites  who attacks the weak and the stragglers. That may be but I am more inclined to believe that he attacks those on the front line. Those actively engaged in the war; those on the field of battle. Those who are spiritual leaders have a target on their back. The devil is like a roaring lion, he is seeking someone to devour. He attacked Jesus, Paul and Peter. He gave Martin Luther fits. I know there are people who cannot relate to what I am saying. They never have a doubt, fear or disparaging moment. If they have any struggles with the devil, they never let on. I never worry about the doubters; I worry about those who never have a doubt and never repent of anything.  If the devil is not giving you any problems; you might want to check that out. He may not have a reason to attack you.

Extra

A new day and we praise the LORD for it. God is Good. It has been a busy week and it may not get any better. I praise the LORD for the moments I have with Him alone. I need that alone time desperately. Six more Wednesday night before the time change. Like the month of January, they will go by in a hurry.

Have a good day and thanks for reading the blog.
