The God Who Does Not Change

Scripture

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

~James 1:17, LSB

Quote

God never changes: He doesn’t need to change, He is perfect.

~Ya’akov

Everything is the universe is in a state of change except the God head: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit do not change. How can you improve on absolute perfection? The CSB and NIV make James 1:17 a little clearer… Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. John Philips translates this last line…with whom there is never the slightest variation or shadow of inconsistency. Kenneth Taylor paraphrased it like this…But whatever is good and perfect comes to us from God, the Creator of all light, and He shines forever without change or shadow. The Sun is the center of our tiny solar system. Although it is stationary in a sense, the orbit and rotation of the earth makes the sun change in its appearance and influence. The rising sun, and the noon day sun, are different, as is the setting sun. The earths rotation makes the sun appear to be moving across the sky and as the earth rotates, the shadows caused by the sun change constantly. With God, there is no such change. We refer to this divine attribute in theology as “immutability.” To mutate is to undergo change.

I’m sure you are thinking, “What is the big deal? We know all this already!” The big deal is our “Me Culture.” If God is immutable, then all of His attributes or characteristics are immutable. This means His TRUTH never changes. His ETHICS {moral laws} never change. You can see this immutability in God’s wondrous creation. Take math for example: two plus two equals four. That was true for Moses and Abraham and it is true for us today. The laws of math are woven into the fabric of the universe. The sacredness of marriage {one woman and one man, Adam and Eve} has been challenged. The left declares that two men can be married or two women. This is in direct conflict with what scripture teaches. These morons not only believe that men evolved, they believe that morality evolves and that man himself is the judge of what is moral and what is not. Humanism, in its many forms, always makes man the solution. Well, heck fire and save the matches, man is the problem and man’s primary problem is sin. How can a sinful man declare what is right or wrong? It is paramount to letting the inmates of a prison make the rules. Those who are doing time for murder will change the definition of murder so as to excuse themselves from the punishment they deserve. Anyone with a brain the size of a pea knows you cannot let the inmates make the rules.

This is why liberalism never works. It is a train wreck; a disaster waiting to happen. You can’t turn the farm over to the animals simply because they are animals who are governed by instinct and self-preservation. Sure, they can eat the grain that is in the trough but they don’t have enough sense to plant the next crop.

It is not Friday but it has been awhile since I did a political rant. Jean Narrel passed out at work and was taken to CRMC. She is OK but now they say she has covid. Anthony Brown is also at Cullman. Anthony has a lung problem. It is not fluid, something thicker more like pulse. If they can draw it out, he will have to have surgery. He has been very sick. Mrs. Edith was not doing well yesterday; nor was Mrs. Willowdean. I visited Sunday evening and some of my helpers have been visiting for me on Monday and Tuesday. I will be going back today, LORD willing.

We need a rain. Our garden is as hard as a brick bat; I’ve never seen anything like it. The tiller just bounces. I don’t know if it needs sand or straw; all I know is it is hard and needs a rain. You need more time than I have to have a good garden. There will probably never be another garden like Luther’s: he spent 40-50 hours a week in his garden and no one was allowed in his garden; not even Mrs. Jewel. I don’t think you can hurt mine.

The weeks go by fast when you are 37; I can’t believe it is Wednesday. Have a good day and thanks for reading the blog.
