A day of worrying is more exhausting than a week of work.

bro. jack marc crowIt is amazing what I see when I read, sometimes I have to stop and start again. When I glanced at today’s verse…I saw…“Turn your worries over to the Lord and keep going.” Not exactly what is says but it is close. I think David wrote this verse; it is good advice but easier said than done. I am worried about many things with the election at the top of the list. I have probably told you about the man who hired a professional worrier, that is exactly what I need. After hiring the professional worrier the man came home from work as care free as small child. His burden of anxiety was lifted and his wife noticed the difference. “What have you done,” she asked? “I hired a professional worrier to do my worrying for me,” he said. “Well, just how much did this professional worrier cost? His wife quipped. “A hundred thousand dollars per year,” he said. His wife’s instant retort was: “A hundred thousand dollars, where are you going to get that kind of money?” “I don’t know” he said, “that is his worry.”

If we could only hire someone to worry for us, wouldn’t that be great. It helped David to remember that God was on the throne {v.19} and it is a throne of grace. The writer of Hebrews said in 4:12, So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. Prayer is a wonderful privilege. I could not survive without this sweet relief. Sweet hour of prayer that calls me from a world of care and bids me to the Fathers throne to make all my wants and wishes know. In seasons of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief and often escaped the tempters snare, how precious is the privilege of prayer.
