A Divine Attitude Adjustment

Scripture

In a short time—just a little more than a year—you careless ones will suddenly begin to care.

~Isaiah 32:10, NLT

Everything in the universe, except our Creator and Savior is in a state of change: in the blink of an eye, your entire worldview can change.

~Ya’akov

I am currenting reading through Isaiah’s prophecies in my devotional time and chapter 32 is a part of Isaiah’s warning to Judah. The verse above was addressed to the rich women of Jerusalem who were living in luxury while much of the country suffered. Isaiah gives them a wakeup call. He warns them…“Things are about to change. Right now, you don’t care but in a little over a year, you will care.” My mother hated certain words and attitudes: you got slapped in the face if you said, “I don’t care.” She hated that phrase and that attitude. She would tell us, “I will give you something that will help you care.” Then she adjusted your attitude. As I was meditating this verse, I thought about how quickly everything can change. Is it not amazing how one fraudulent election can change everything? In a little over a year, we have seen gas double and groceries have gone up more than gas. Turkey is $4.98 a pound. I would be afraid to price a ham.

Think of how quickly 9/11 happened: in less than 2 hours everything changed dramatically. Unfortunately, we didn’t learn much and went right back to political correctness which is bottom side of the cancel culture. Woe to those who are at ease in Zion! Woe to those who are complacent and indifferent! Woe to those who have put other gods before Him and who have no love for their neighbor! Would you not agree that America as a whole is indifferent? We don’t care about church, God or our neighbor. We are too busy looking out for number one. How long would it take God to change our attitude? Not long! One earthquake, one tsunami, one flood, one world war, one famine…the list of possibilities is probably infinite. I will tell you what you better do: thank Him for the breath you are taking at this moment, thank Him for His infinite goodness and mercy and make your way to the altar this Sunday and repent for taking His mercy for granted.

Ask Job how long it takes for God to get your undivided attention? In less than a day, Job’s entire world was shaken. You are probably thinking…“Man, don’t talk like that, I do not want what happened to Job to happen to me.” Job, like Jesus, suffered because he was good. We are more likely to suffer for our sin and indifference. So, before you get started today, stop and count your blessing.

Speaking of blessings and thanksgiving: June and I went for our semi-annual checkup yesterday and all went well. June got an A+ and I did not get fussed at, so I am happy. I am glad it is over because I didn’t get to eat yesterday morning and I had to fix breakfast for the GK’s. It’s tough to cook when you can’t eat your own cooking.

I used the heater yesterday morning and the AC in the evening. The 30 degree swing from night to day is hard to adjust to. After all the cold weather, a 60 degree day seems like summer.

I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
