I Called And No One Answered

Scripture

So I will bring disaster upon them—the very things they are afraid of—because no one answered when I called or listened when I spoke. They chose to disobey me and do evil.”

~Isaiah 66:4, GNT

I never learned anything while I was talking.

June says that I am bad about not answering when she calls. I don’t know much about I-Phones. I can tell you this, I would not have one if it were not for June. I don’t really like phones unless I need one. Everyone agrees that my phone manners are horrible. I guess I make it pretty obvious that I do not like to talk on the phone. When I read this verse from Isaiah the other day; it made me stop and think. It is one thing not to answer when June calls, but what if God calls and I don’t answer. That my friend is a troubling thought. God called Israel again and again, but He kept getting a busy signal or else they hung up on Him. It reached a breaking point and He stopped calling and sent judgment. They had a choice, and a chance to repent, but they chose to not listen or obey.

I think history repeats itself. We are talking about Jeremiah and Judah in our men’s bible study class and I think America is in the same situation. Our leaders have sold themselves to do evil. They talk about justice, but their brand of justice is more injustice. They cannot produce what they are promising. There is only ONE JUSTICE. He is a person and He is the Chief Justice. He and He alone can define what is just or unjust. Paul made it clear in Romans 3 that we are all under sin. Every human being has been snake bit. A part of the curse is a vain and self-centered nature. We are perverted, twisted, bent and broken. We have no righteousness and those who think they do are deceived: their righteousness is tainted with self and is totally unacceptable to God. Sin has invaded this world and it is pervasive, powerful, disruptive and destructive. How can sin stop sin? How can the blind lead the blind? Folks, we need a Savior. We need someone to sit their foot down on this twisted world and set things straight. There is only one who can do that, and His name is Jesus.

Extra

Praise the LORD, we got rain and plenty of it. Our okra needs cutting, peas need picking and our pepper planted are loaded but we have a muddy garden. We have squash galore but it is too muddy to get in the garden. Hey, it is a good problem.

Mrs. Edith is back at the cottages and Mrs. Willowdean is not doing well at all. June and are planning to go back this morning and check on her.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!!!!!
