Seeking

Scripture

“But from there you will seek the LORD your God, and you will find Him if you search for Him with all your heart and all your soul.”

~Deuteronomy 4:29, NASB

When we diligently seek the LORD; we declare our allegiance to Him and our reliance upon Him.

Isaiah said, “At night my soul longs for YOU. Indeed my spirit within me seeks YOU diligently.”  Jeremiah said, “The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him. Jesus said, “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Moses command the Israelites to seek God, why? Why doesn’t God step into the world of the visible and make Himself known? Why does He not give us empirical proof?  God did step into the world of the visible in Christ but of course, you and I were not eye witnesses to the incarnation. The first reason that God requires us to seek is found in Hebrews 11:6, It is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to Him must believe that God exists and that He rewards those who sincerely seek Him. Before the foundation of the world, God choose the avenue of faith as our way of relating to Him. Empirical proof would eliminate faith. All I know on the subject is what the scriptures teach and they teach that God demands faith on our part.

I do have one more idea but it is conjecture: I don’t have a scripture or at least, no particular scripture is coming to mind. God wants us to stay in a seeking mode. He wants us to learn to trust HIS Word. Even when we cannot see His hand, we have His word. His word is powerful: he created the visible world by the power of His word. Relationships can be complicated and they depend a lot on our word.  I want my children and grand children to know that I love them but frankly, I do not want to be put to the test daily to prove that love. I just want them to trust me when I say, “I love you.”  I am not positive that the heavenly has the exact same feelings but I do believe He wants us to learn to trust HIM in spite of the circumstances. Seeking is an expression of our desire to know Him, to understand His heart, to worship and adore Him. In the process of our seeking Him, our deepest needs are met. I do know this: your seeking God is a good thing.

Wow, Fall is here is more ways than one. It is cool out there this morning  as in got down in to the 40*s. No A/C needed today at the Eastern Gate HQ.  I don’t think the cotton will make it. It needed more hot days and warm nights. With this weather, we may get a frost. I do know how to make it stop raining. Any time I set out mums, it turns dry. Any time I plant rye grass, it stops raining. I think I might do some planting in the next two days.

This is the last Friday in September. If September flew by, think how fast October will zoom by. Have a good day and thanks for reading the blog.

P.S. Please pray for Marlon and Shiela Archer. Marlon is in B’town on a vent. He was not able to be at his dad’s COLS yesterday. Sheila has a heaven burden–please pray for her and Marlon.
