The Fate Of Tyrants

Scripture

You will not be given a proper burial, for you have destroyed your nation and slaughtered your people.
The descendants of such an evil person will never again receive honor.

~Isaiah 14:20, NLT

Quote

All tyrants are the same: they are interested in their own power and nothing else. They do not care if they destroy a nation or a congregation. All they want is to further their cause and make a name for themselves.

~Gary V. Smith

We are not definite as to who Isaiah was referring to in chapter fourteen, but the New American Commentary thinks it was Sargon II. Although he was an Assyrian, he did rule Babylon as well. He was a butcher and a horrible person. His father was Antiochus Epiphanes who persecuted the Jews horribly. He skinned some while they were alive and had them fried in huge pans. I agree with the NA commentary, I think this scripture applies to all tyrants including our modern versions like Obama. These are people that have a deep desire to rule other people. All tyrants are the same in that they have an agenda which is in line with their personal goals and they do not care about others or how their reckless decisions affect them. While I was studying to preach on Isaiah 14:12-14 and the danger of pride, I came across some information that I found shocking but not surprizing. I ran out of time and did not get to share it in the sermon.

Adolph Hitler’s reign of terror lasted only eleven years but think of the millions who were brutally murdered during those eleven years. Of course he murdered fewer than his buddy Stalin but you never hear anything about Stalin because he was a communist and that is OK these days. Practically all democrats are Marxist and the media as well. Isaiah said this tyrant will not have a funeral, no stately burial and his descendants will be wiped out. In light of this prophecy, lets focus on Hitler. He married just minutes before he committed suicide so he didn’t have any children. He had four nephews survive through his brother. I think all of them are deceased and none of them had children. I am not sure but I think only one of the four got married but all his descendants met together an agreed that none of them would reproduce and they all died without heirs. They also changed their last name.  You can find out more by reading David Gardner’s book The Last of the Hitlers.

A tyrant has no future. They are a flash in the pan and then suddenly they disappear. No honor, no stately funeral with thousand mourning, no grave and no monuments.  Remember what happened to Lenin’s statue with the Iron Curtain fell? The same thing happened with Saddam Hussein’s statue of himself? All tyrants are destined to fall. Anyone who exalted himself or herself as God will be brought down. What ever you do, don’t rebel against God. It does not have a good ending.

Praise the LORD for the warm weather; it is wonderful. We have a water leak that we found as soon as the ice thawed in our front yard. We have a Plummer coming to day I hope. In the old days I would have fixed this myself but I am waiting on a Plummer. If he doesn’t show up soon, I will not have a choice. Kip got Mike moved last night. I got a text at 4:20 yesterday saying they had made it. This is going to  be hard on Mike and the family. He will only be allowed to have company at visiting hours and unless they have changed, they are strict. Lord willing, I will be there this evening. Pray for Mike and Family.

We have a sick great grand boy…Titan…high fever. Pray for Titan.

Since I am old and no longer enjoy flying I have retired from overseas trips. My good friend Kevin taught me another way to see the world without leaving your den or office. Of course it is not the same as going there but it does give you a glance of what the rest of the world is like. I did a boat ride on the Danube Sunday evening and I have road trains through Norway, Germany, Switzerland and parks of the UK. I have actually been to both Germany and Switzerland but didn’t get to see much of the country side. Via YouTube, I have seen more.  I have done the Rhine River boat cruise: Germany has 20,000 castles, some are more than a thousand years old. You will see many of them on the Rhine river tour. I am sure there is a lot more than I have found and it beats the heck out of TV. I will tack a couple on here to get you started if you are interested. The first tunnel comes up at 2:15 into the ride and some of them are long if you want to fast forward. They have a great winter ride but I didn’t think anyone would be interested in seeing it this week.

I do understand that nothing beats being there in person but this will give you an idea.
