Scripture
Your lives are like salt among the people. But if you, like salt, become bland, how can your saltness be restored? Flavorless salt is good for nothing and will be thrown out and trampled on by others.
~Matthew 5:13, Passion
Quote
Christianity has become so conventional and respectable that it is insipid…the salt has lost its flavor…would to God that the world found us Christians dangerous enough to call us mad {crazy}.
When Christopher Columbus decided to sail uncharted waters, folks said he was mad or out of his mind. When Martin Luther took a bold stand against the practices of the Catholic Church, people said he had gone mad. When Patrick Henry, one of my favorite characters, declared publicly that he preferred death over tyranny, folks said he was mad. When George Washington refused to lay down arms after the winter at Valley Forge, folks said he had lost his mind. Dr. Billy Graham said, “We {Christians} have become so sophisticated and respectable that no one calls us mad, crazy or fanatical.” Matter of fact, I would add, there is not a lot of difference between the way we live and the way the world lives. When Chuck Colson had dinner with one of the major TV producers, Colson asked him why they did not have more Christian/Family oriented programs, after all fifty million viewers are Christian. The exec said immediately, “You mean movies like Chariots of Fire?” Colson said, “Yes, exactly, that is what I mean.” The exec said, “CBS aired that movie just a few months back and the ratings were dismal. On Golden Pond {NBC} was highest {25.2}, My Mother’s Secret Life was two at 25.1 {ABC} and CBS Chariots of Fire was on the bottom at 11.8.” So he concluded, “where were your fifty million born again believers?” Professing Christians watch the same kind of TV that the world watches.
I’m not much on TV. What little I watch is old programs recored in the last century. I have not watched a network program in over a year. Why? There is nothing fit to watch. We did watch a couple of things on Vid-Angel last year but none this year. I stopped watching Chicago PD because they started using the LORD’s name in vain. We stopped watching NAVY SEALS over a year ago because they started dropping the F-bomb. How many professing Christians did not stop? You don’t want to know. I know very few people who have convictions about such things. By the way, both Jesus and John the Baptist were accused of being mad, crazy and even demon possessed. Do you stand out or blend in? Some one told me I was crazy last week. Hey, I take it as a compliment. I want to be different and I don’t want to be like the world. We have to get over this craze to be recognized by the world. Who gives a rip what they think and you need to remember, this is the same bunch {world} that crucified Jesus. Do you really want to kiss up to this Christ hating mob? Surely not!

My good neighbor, Leldon Chasteen passed away yesterday morning very early. This last couple of years has been real hard for him and Rose. I have mixed emotions; I celebrate his victory over the last enemy but I am sure going to miss him. He was a good neighbor and friend. He was very good with small engines. He and Willard kept me going. I will be doing his memorial service today at 12:00 and would appreciate your prayers. The burial is in Pullman, the Memorial Gardens I think.
Didn’t get as cold last night as the night before PTL and warms back up tomorrow. I got use to the warm weather and the cold snap took the wind out of my sails. It didn’t get dark last night until almost 6:00. It is less than three weeks to the time change and then it will be seven before it gets dark. Easter is only six weeks away.
Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
