You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. If anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.
~Romans 8:9, CSB
Obedience is a pleasure with Jesus is your Treasure.
How would you define the Spirit of Christ? Well it is certainly humble but in light of this passage and Paul’s train of thought: the Spirit of Christ is the spirit of obedience. Do you have a desire to please Christ? You either do or you don’t. The fleshly mind-set is self-centered. It’s primary concern is to please itself. The flesh has no regard for God and little for others. The Spirit of Christ gives us life and energy to please God. Spiritual things can be tricky because they are so subjective. John said, “Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see if they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.” So every spirit is not from God. The devil is a spiritual being which is exactly why we can not use flesh and blood methods to fight him. He tempts us in both empirical and spiritual ways. It is not always easy to label or identify the spirit that is speaking to you but the Spirit of Christ is the spirit of obedience. If you have His Spirit, you are going to have a desire to please the Father. This helps because we know if we have this desire. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I want to please my Heavenly Father. This was Jesus passion and it is my passion also.
The spirit of the devil is that of disobedience and rebellion. Paul said the the Ephesians in chapter two, And you were dead in your trespasses and sins in which you previously lived according to the ways of this world, according to the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit now working in the disobedient. Satan spirit is one of disobedience. This makes things simple: if we have the spirit of disobedience, we have not been born again and we need a new birth. If you want to please God, this is the Spirit of Christ in your life and this Spirit is a GRACE gift. This is why Jesus used Sheep to identify his followers and goats as the children of Satan. The goat is a stubborn self-willed animal that cannot be lead. The sheep is a submissive [not perfect] animal that wants to be lead. Which are you? Are there goats among the sheep? Sure, just like their are tares among the wheat but it is not our job to identify them or root them out. When Jesus returns, His angels with sort things out. The sheep will stand in stunned silence while the goats pitch a fit. They will be told what to do and they will do it but not without a fight. The problem is: it is a fight they cannot win.
- I am loving this cooler weather. We didn’t get that much rain last week, way less than an inch, so it is dry as a keg of powder but fall is just around the corner. Big L had a football game Friday night and Ryder on Saturday. Football is here and fall is right behind.
- The Chloe Bug got the stomach bug and had to miss school. She and Big Mama rode with me to the Literature Distribution Center yesterday and she said as we drove by the school, “I hope I have diarrhea tomorrow and the next day too. I like diarrhea. I’m going to get my mama to talk to Mrs. Neeka and tell her that I am going to be home schooled.” Big Mama said, “I hate to burst your bubble but I don’t think that is going to happen.” Chloe even hate recess, she likes to stay under the AC.
- Holly had a rough day yesterday and a hard week. She could still use our prayers. We are very proud of her.
