Unsearchable Riches of Christ

Scripture

To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ.

~Ephesians 3:8, NKJV

Jesus Christ is God’s treasure house and repentance is the key.

~J.C. Ryle

Everything imaginable is bound up in Jesus. Paul told the Colossians in Chapter two, I want you to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want you to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ HimselfIn Him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Jesus Himself is the Pearl of invaluable worth. He is worth more than everything else you have or think you have. Why did Paul speak of Christ’s riches as unsearchable? It is simple: In Christ there is infinite love, grace, mercy, goodness, wisdom, knowledge, life and oh so much more. Myriads of believers all over the world {millions} are calling upon Christ right this moment and He will show them mercy and grace and yet His grace and mercy are not diminished. He can meet every need of every believer. Thousands called upon Him for mercy and salvation in the first century and two thousand years later they are still calling on Him and He is still ready to save. The same sun that brought Paul to his knees shines on you and I today. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Christ riches are unsearchable because you and I can not exhaust them and we can not find bottom. The deeper we go, we find that He goes deeper still. Paul said in Philippians three, I want to know Christ and experience the mighty power that raised him from the dead. He was not a new convert when he made this statement; in fact he had been a believer for years but his desire was to go deeper. You need not fear touching bottom; Paul did not and neither will you or I. It may take us all of eternity to get to know Him fully. Ryle says, “The best Christian among us knows but little of our glorious Savior. Let us follow the example of Paul and seek to know Him better and live in closer communion with Him.” The poet said…

Here, alas, I know but half His love, I half discern Him and half adore;

But when I meet Him in realms above, I hope to love Him better and praise Him more.

I want to praise Him for the rising temperatures. It is in the mid-twenties now and should be above freezing by lunch, PTL. Plus we have rain coming, not sleet. The roads are still a mess but the rain should help the melting process. You have to be more careful than before, when you see a black texture underneath, be careful, you can fall. I had to take a new route to my office this morning. The black ice is dangerous.

Mike had a better night. Joe David and I are headed that way in a little while. I am not sure about my neighbor. June is checking now and I Emma is out of the hospital and they were coming home as soon as the road cleared. Sunday should be better with a high of 40*. Rain all next week. I have no problem with the rain.

Have a great day, watch the black ice, and thanks for reading the blog.
