Progressive Revelation

The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what He was talking about.

~Luke 18:34, NIV

The finite cannot completely absorb the infinite but it can absorb progressively more.

BJ and CJesus had a plan or was at least following a plan but it was understood by no man. Not even His mother fully understood what was going on. When Jesus first mentions His death and resurrection, Peter became visibly upset, “LORD, may this never be,” said Peter. In Luke 9 the scripture reads, But they didn’t know what He meant. Its significance was hidden from them, so they couldn’t understand it, and they were afraid to ask him about it. So the disciples followed Jesus but they didn’t know exactly where He was going or why, yet eventually, they would know and understand. Paul said the the Corinthians, Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely.

At present, we have a partial understanding of what God is doing but one day we will understand things more clearly. When I first got saved as a boy, I knew very little about the Kingdom of God. Over the years, I have learned more and more and I am still learning. I learn something new practically ever day and I believe our learning will continue throughout eternity. How can God be that great? I don’t know! I do know that I can not exaggerate His greatness. He is far greater than you and I can imagine and if He were to reveal HIMSELF completely to me or anyone else, it would blow us out of existence. It would be simular to running 2 million amps into a 200 amp switch box. Remember what Yahweh said to Moses,  “You cannot see My face, for no man can see Me and live!”
