Telling The Truth

Scripture

I was born into this world to tell the truth and everyone who belongs to the TRUTH knows My voice.

~John 18:17, CEV

“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”

~C.S. Lewis

Jesus is TRUTH; the two are synonymous. You cannot separate Jesus from the truth or truth from Jesus because they are one in the same. Every time Jesus spoke, He spoke truth and you cannot say that about any other person. Just as small children learn to lie and place the blame on someone else; so did our ancient parents. We find the account of there transgression in Genesis 3…Late in the afternoon a breeze began to blow, and the man and woman heard the Lord God walking in the garden. They were frightened and hid behind some trees. The Lord called out to the man and asked, “Where are you?” The man answered, “I was naked, and when I heard you walking through the garden, I was frightened and hid!” “How did you know you were naked?” God asked. “Did you eat any fruit from that tree in the middle of the garden?” “It was the woman you put here with me,” the man said. “She gave me some of the fruit, and I ate it.” The simple truth, had Adam told it, would have been: “Yes Lord I disobeyed You. I have sinned and I am guilty because I knew better.” But Adam didn’t tell the truth, he blamed his transgression on God because God gave him the woman and the devil used the woman to seduce Adam. So Adam sins and then he lies about his sin and we have been lying about our sin since.

Why do we lie? Why can’t we be like Jesus and tell the truth? I see a couple of problems: fear or insecurity is one and ignorance is another. First of all, we lie because we are afraid to tell the truth. Why do children lie to parents? Because they fear the consequences of telling the truth. All deeply insecure people lie. They believe that the lies are building a protective wall but in truth their lies are building a wall that enslaves them. They become prisoner to their own lies. Only the TRUTH will set them free. Adam lied because he was afraid. But there is another reason we don’t always tell the truth and that is we don’t always know the truth. Jesus knew everything about everybody. He could not be deceived. You and I do not know everything and therefore we cannot tell the truth always. We should seek the truth but sometimes that is a process. There are many things that we may not know this side of heaven. I want to know the TRUTH; the Jewish religious leaders did not want to know the TRUTH. Sometimes the truth hurts, it convicts, it can even shame but I want to know the truth. I love John 10:41, While Jesus was there, many people came to Him. They were saying, “John didn’t work any miracles, but everything he said about Jesus is true.” My goal is to tell the truth about Jesus. May God help me to never say anything about Jesus that is not true.

Well it tried to rain but we only got the dust settled: not enough to measure. My brother-in-law in West Limestone got 2 inches. My first corn burned up but I have two more patches that could be saved with a rain but one of them will have to have it soon. Walked out of my office about noon and got popped by a yellow jacket. The sap sucker stung me on the neck.

I want to do a TOP TEN on why WOMEN LOVE WEDDINGS MORE THAN MEN. I have two or three ideas: I need seven more.
