He Did Not Die Alone

Scripture

Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last.

It is not possible for mortals to comprehend the splendor of Jesus love.

We mentioned yesterday that Mary refused to allow her Son to die alone. It was a horrible day of agony for Mary but she was there at the foot of the cross to the bitter end or should I say sweet. I believe she gave thanks when she heard her Son say, “Father, I entrust My spirit into Your hands.” In that moment Jesus died and his body was at peace. Mary was grateful to see the suffering come to an end. I think she realized that Jesus’ suffering was over forever. He would never suffer in this way again. Truly, it was finished when He breathed His last. The cross is a fact that stands at the center of history, but the good news is that Jesus finished our redemption and did every thing He came to do, and His suffering is over. He came first as the Man of sorrows and He suffered every thing imaginable but now it is all history and it will not happen again. I thank God that His suffering is finished and for the fact that He did not die alone.

Miller tells the story of an older woman who was facing death and she had no one. Her pastor came to see her and she begged him not to leave. She did not want to die alone. He pulled up a chair, took her by the hand. He read scripture, prayed, sang hymns and conversed with her for the next 36 hours. By that time, the preacher was exhausted and barely able to sit up. The Doctor came in to examine her and said, “It is a miracle, you are much better. I don’t think you are going to die anytime soon,” so the preacher got to go home and get some rest. She was dying of loneliness and the pastor’s fellowship brought healing.

I like the story. No one should die alone. What the government did in 2020 was atrocious, many died alone because of their idiotic quarantine protocol. Some of them were in hospitals and some were in nursing homes. I cannot forgive them for what they did and even worse, none of them have been held accountable; not here on earth. I am sure they will give an account later. No one should die alone.

Some of the ladies at the pastor’s luncheon talked me into changing my plans. So we will be leaving Wednesday evening about 2:00 hopefully. They are going to have the stew and worship without me. It didn’t take much to convince me. The ladies at the POINT get an A+ on the lunch. Outstanding! Superb! Never seen anything like it! I also want to thank Buddy and Perry for helping set up and clean up. I am very proud of my Grace Point family. They will have a “stew” fellowship on Wednesday at 6:00 and then joint worship. Then the adults will get out early. We will resume our messages on CHRISTIAN APOLOGETICS on October 18.

The rain last Friday was wonderful but it did not change things for long, it is dry at 1120. You can feel the dust in the air and the leaves don’t help. We need a good rain. They were giving 38% for Friday, now they have reduced it to 20%. I would like to see that number go up, not down.

Have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
