Self-sufficiency is a myth perpetuated by pride and temporary success.
~Sarah Young
I don’t know what period of David’s life he is referring to in Psalm 30, but I could not help but think about the sorted affair with Bathshebba. At this point in his life, David was riding high. He had won every battle. All his enemies had been defeated home and abroad. He had accomplished what no other in the history of the tribes had been able to do. He had conquered the promised land, territories that had not been secured. He had unified the people. He had expanded Israel’s borders. All nations feared David. Things were going great…how could it get any better? Then wham! David steps across the line; he offends God and an huts a host of others; within no time, his joy is gone and his life becomes one of misery. Peter made a prideful statement,“Even if all are made to stumble because of You, I will never be made to stumble.”[Matt. 26:43, NKJV] Jesus said to Peter,“I tell you the truth, Peter—this very night, before the rooster crows {dawn}, you will deny three times that you even know me.” What Peter did once, I have done a hundred times or more. I can assure you, pride comes before a fall.
If you are having great success, watch out. Elijah had a banner day on Mount Carmel but within 48 hours, he was battling a fit of depression. A proud thought, an arrogant strut or a boastful word is all it takes. We are always vulnerable when we experience great success. You may be like me, you have learned to be content with failure or as Paul said “weakness.” I know one thing for sure, pride is sneaky; seldom do you see it coming. The moment I see it, I repent and rebuke it in Jesus name because the consequences are bitter tears.

I texted Bill Nelson last night and Ken is resting but slowly getting worse. Today is Wednesday which means visiting the retirement homes and two meetings. Tonight at the POINT we will be talking about the HOLY TRINITY-God is three in one. Doesn’t make sense to we humans does it. That is because we don’t have enough sense to make sense of God sense.
We got two or three rains. Jackson and I worked in the garden for 3-4 hours yesterday. We finally got out a few tomato plants and planted 4 more rows of corn. I had turnip greens for supper last night thanks to Joe Fitzgerald, Mickey Childers and the LORD. Joe has introduced me to a new kind of farming: using old tractor ties and watering troughs. It works. You don’t have to bend to pick your greens and they are free of grass and weeds. I used the ash from an old burn pile for my soil. I haven’t seen a weed yet! PTL!
I hope you have a great day and thanks for reading the blog.
