Revelation

Scripture

Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.

~Luke 24:45, NLT

Without divine revelation, there is no human understanding.

~Ya’akov

How many times did Jesus tell His disciples that it was necessary for Him to go to Jerusalem, and that He would suffer many terrible things at the hands of the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but on the third day He would be raised from the dead? We don’t know for sure, but He told them more than once. In spite of Jesus repeated teaching on the subject, they didn’t get it. When the women reported that the tomb was empty, the disciples didn’t believe them. Jesus told the two disciples on the road to Emmaus,  “You foolish people! You find it so hard to believe all that the prophets wrote in the Scriptures. Wasn’t it clearly predicted that the Messiah would have to suffer all these things before entering his glory?” They still didn’t get it. It was when they sat down to supper and Jesus did the blessing that they saw clearly that it was Jesus at the end of the table. Suddenly the whole mystery unraveled and they saw the purpose of the cross and the glory of the resurrection.

Bottom line: you don’t attack the Bible with human skills. Intellectual skills will not help in understanding the Bible. A genius could read the Bible and not get anything from it rather than history or a few moral principles or maybe a new religion. When we declare that Jesus is on every page, the world scoffs because they don’t see Jesus on every page; they see mistakes and contradictions. Is this not amazing, I see Jesus. It is called divine revelation and we are totally dependent upon it. We must have the help of the Holy Spirit: He and only He can illuminate the scriptures.

So if I am 71 and God revealed something to me today that I had never seen before; how many more such revelations are there? I imagine the number is infinite. The Word of God is the most fascinating thing on the planet. I was praying a few days ago and thanking God for the WORD and one adjective after another came to mind: the WORD is incredible, inexhaustible, incomparable, amazing, astounding, awesome, comforting, convicting, convincing, thrilling, chilling and filling. I watch a little TV and a little sports but when they come to take me to prison, I want my bible. I can make it without TV or sports but I can’t make it without the WORD.

Speaking of revelation, understanding things you’ve never understood before: I come across something new practically everyday. Why is Ireland called the Emerald Isle? Because he stays green and lush. Did you know that Ireland is on the same longitude as Canada. How is it possible that the average tempt in the winter is 45 degrees? Ireland enjoys a temperate maritime climate, due mainly to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the presence of the Gulf Stream. Ireland is so green because it receives a lot of precipitation and a lot of fog. Ireland gets just enough sun to thrive but they have cloud cover most of the time.

I also learned a new English word cairn. It a mound of rough stones built as a memorial or landmark, typically on a hilltop or skyline. I would show you a picture but I don’t know how to do that on a Mac.

Pray for REVIVAL in America. Pray for President Trump to be restored. He is the rightful president due to voter fraud.
