When the debate is lost, slander becomes the tool of the loser.
~Socrates
Psalm 120 is a prayer of David in response to the slander that had come against him. When Saul decided that David was a liability, he launched a slander campaign in an attempt to discredit the very popular David. To the day of his death, Saul never let up. He tried to convince himself and Israel that David was the enemy and needed to be destroyed. As I was reading Psalm 120 and thinking about David, I suddenly realized how God has protected me over the years. It is a miracle that I continue to do what I love most. There is no doubt in my mind that it is due to the LORD’s protection. Think about it; what can you do to stop slander? The answer is nothing. We cannot prevent it. If you think living a morally pure and impeccable life can prevent it, you are wrong. Good people are at greater risk than evil. Jesus was slandered; Caiaphas was not. Keep in mind that Satan is the father of slander. The Greek word translated ‘devil’ is diabolos and it means false accuser or slanderer. I imagine that all pastors have been slandered at one time or another but could we survive if we were the target of a well organized, well funded slander campaign?
For example: think about the billions of dollars used by the left to slander President Trump. We are talking none-stop, 24/7/365. These demons don’t even come up for air. By now, everyone except the dupes, must know that Trump is not guilty of all these slanderous accusations but they don’t care. Their philosophy is to keep slinging mud and eventually, some of it will stick. So they keep telling lies, one after another. Most of them are so blinded by their hate for Trump that they no longer discern what is true or not true. What if someone with a pocket full of money took it upon themselves to slander me? I’m just telling you, it could happen and there would not be one thing I could do to stop it. The moment I stop doing what God called me to do and start responding to every false accusation, I am finished. My attempt to squelch one fire will ignite a dozen more. As David said in the next Psalm {121}, “The LORD is my keeper.” He is the One who watches over me day and night. He is the one who protects me from danger. I can assure you that I am not standing on my virtue, strength or reputation: the LORD is the One who enables me to continue. If He decides to lower the gap or open the gate, I will not last a New York minute. Folks, I am not just talking; I firmly believe all that I have said. Jesus is my keeper.

Sorry I am late; chalk it up to the High School sports group in Montgomery. They put Danville in the international soccer league. We have to travel two hours to play. Ridiculous! We had to go all the way to Geraldine last night and then my ride decided we would go by the Top of The River on the way home. I got in bed at midnight and then could not go to sleep.
Lexi is at the Madison Hospital and no news so far. The doctor said it could be an all day deal. She and Holden are shaken but trusting Jesus. Pray for Lexi and Holden. The doctor said it would take a minimum of four hours so my prayer is a delivery in four hours. The baby is 19 weeks and has no heart beat. Some of you ladies have been through this and you know how Lexi feels.
It is a beautiful day to me but I love rain. I am listening to its gentle beat against my metal roof. Our rye grass is beautiful.
I hope you have a Good Friday and thanks for reading the blog.
