Scripture
Come, everyone! Clap your hands!
Shout to God with joyful praise!
~Psalm 47:1, NLT
Quote
Christ will become King over all the world without a battle; simply through the trumpets call, shouts and song.
~Martin Luther
You have heard me say a dozen times that When Jesus returns as the Lion of Judah, He will not encounter resistance. His omnipotence will be so evident that we will fall naturally to our knees. No one will stand before Him. No one will have the strength to stand before Him. The trumpet will sound, Jesus will descend and all His followers will be shouting, singing, clapping, and praising Him from whom all blessings flow. I know there are books on prophecy that talk about Jesus riding a white horse in blood up to the bit of the bridal but they are taking figurative language and interpreting it literally. The same do not think that the first three chapters of the Revelation are to be taken literally but fuguratively. Listen folks, God’s ways are higher. He does not need tanks, bombers, jet fighters or nuclear warheads. Do you remember the passage where they come to arrest Jesus and when He spoke, they all fell backwards. Folks, He has not lost His power, at His word the universe was created so why do you think it will take more than His word to subdue a rebellious creation? The message of the Revelation is that Jesus is the Lion-like Lamb who prevails. I have no doubt that He will and He will do it with the power of His presence.
So I think Luther is right and I think I am right on this subject. Is there a chance we could be wrong? Sure, only God Himself knows how it will unfold but my interpretation does not alter the character of Jesus the Prince of peace. I do not think Jesus will become like David. I don’t think this was ever the goal. The David’s of this world must become like Jesus. All I am saying is that if Jesus wills that the final battle be one of praise, adoration, celebration with hand clapping, singing and shouting–so be it! Why would anyone have a problem with such a final battle? Luther believed that Psalm 47 was a description of this final battle. He also believes that the battle for Jericho is prophetic: the final battle will be won with a shout.

In preparing for Sunday I came across the PARADOX OF OUR TIMES. George Carlin the late comedian used this more than once but some do not believe it was original with him. I don’t know but I think it is good and worth sharing.
THE PARADOX OF OUR TIMES
We buy more but enjoy it less
We build bigger houses and raise smaller families
We have more degrees but less sense
We have more experts and fewer solutions
We have increased our worth but reduced our values
We talk more but say less
We know how to make a living but not a life
We can go to the moon but can’t balance a budget
We know how to rush but not how to wait
We have more phones and less communication
We have fast food but slow indigestion
We have big men but little character
We have more food but less nutrition
We build mansions but break homes
We have more in the show window but less in the stock room
We have more technology but less morality
We have more passivity but less peace
