A lot of people do not like modern translations of the bible. My goal in bible study is stated in Psalm 119:18, “Open my eyes to see the wonderful truth in Your instructions.” My goal in preaching is to make the message as simple and clear as possible. I am convinced that the modern translations help in both areas. The word “stupid”, which we use everyday, is never used in the King James. It is used 12 times in the NLT, ESV and the NASB. It is used 16 times in the RSV. Stupidity is having or showing a great lack of intelligence or common sense. A part of our sanctification is our growing awareness of our sin and the nature of sin in general. When the Prodigal came to his senses and stopped being stupid, he changed his mind about practically everything: his father, home, work, servant-hood but he really had a drastic change of mind about sin. He left home thinking sin was a good thing but when he returned, he understood clearly that sin is stupid and it causes us to do stupid things. These stupid things are costly and the stock pile shame, guilt and regret.
One of the consequences of doing stupid things is that they make you feel stupid. I hate doing stupid things for this very reason. You would think and I had hoped that by age 71, stupidity would be a thing of the past but that is not true. As long as we are in the bodies of flesh, stupidity, like pride, will be a problem. I am convinced that every sin is stupid. Greed is stupid. Just take a look at what it does to people. Fear is stupid. We have people, some in their 80’s who have isolated themselves from the world due to the Chinese virus. Don’t stop living before you die; it doesn’t make sense. Adultery is stupid. Pick any sin you please, they are all stupid.
The rain has started and I had some things to do before it got here but no big deal. They’ve moved the Alabama game so that means I will not be watching. I hope to get to see Tennessee/Georgia. I got to see a good bit of the Mississippi State/LSU game and the two Alabama games and that is about it. Things keeps coming up but I hope to get to see a little college football tomorrow.
Now the left is saying that VP Pence didn’t treat Kamala Harris like a woman; he did not respect her femininity. The left wants it both ways at their convenience. I will go out on the limb with a prediction: if these two jokers win the election {democrats} our goose is cooked. I think the democrats are in for a shock. The lock down policies from the Chinese Virus has had devastating effect on small business owners in the major cites up North. The collateral damage from the left wing asinine shutdown policies have been costly and the media doesn’t even mention the subject. There is an elephant in the room and they will not talk about it. They think that because they control the media and the propaganda that all is well. I think Trump has a chance of winning New York.
